Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) has on Tuesday 21st June blasted Thai troops as "terrorists" for cowardly using snipers to shoot and kill Cambodian soldiers during the border clashes in April in Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples.

Speaking during the Veteran Day at the Ministry of Labour and Veteran Affairs, Mr. Hun Sen accused Thai troops of cowardly sneaking stealthily to the Cambodian frontline and shot to kill many Cambodian soldiers, instead of a fair fire fight. "Next time, if they do like that (use snipers), please launch a big attack, not just sneaking in to shoot at each other", he said.

Mr. Hun Sen said Cambodian troops had shown the utmost restraint during the 7-day clashes at Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples, which erupted on 22nd April, by not retaliating straightaway when attacked by Thai troops. "At that time, we allowed them to attack us for four days and we fought back on 26th April, but only 17 minutes into the fight, they asked for a negotiation. We tried to avoid war, but they were very insolent..", he said.

Thai troops invaded the Preah Vihear surrounding area on 15th July 2008 and occupied Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples a month later. Since then, there were many deadly clashes, notably the 4-day clashes at Preah Vihear areas from 4-7 February 2011 and the 7-day clashes at Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples from 22nd to 28th April 2011.
